PRIMARY CUSTOMERS, PARTNERS, AND TEAM:

At Adventist University of Health Sciences (ADU), our primary customers are students, faculty, and staff. Our partners are physicians, allied health clinicians and other employees of Florida Hospital.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Occupational Therapy Assistant – Certified (OTA), under general supervision, assesses students in clinical settings during fieldwork rotations. Manages and trains students and clients in the Hope Clinic at ADU as well as other locations for the Matthew-25 course. The OTA utilizes process improvement in achieving goals of the Occupational Therapy department. Adheres to rules and regulations of Adventist University and all applicable local, state and federal agencies, and accrediting bodies. May supervise other Occupational Therapy Assistants, Occupational Therapy Assistant interns, volunteers, and technical aides. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

Basic knowledge of Occupational Therapy practice, theory, principles and applications as defined in competencies departmental policy

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:

Basic computer skills to include Outlook, Microsoft Office, and Windows

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Associate’s degree in Occupational Therapy

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

Supervision and fieldwork education of level I and/or Level II OTA students

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

Licensed in the State of Florida as an Occupational Therapy Assistant

Certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
